Using Data to Inform Planning

“I'm not able to have a life. I hate this job. Nothing is ever good enough. It's not about
the children, it's about data.” NEU Workload Survey Report March 2018

In schools we collect a vast amount of data about our students, such as attendance, achievement, behaviour and attainment. It can sometimes be a challenge to utilise all of this data effectively given the other demands on teacher time. As a result, teachers often feel that some data is collected just for the sake of it, and that there is an imbalance in their time allocated to collecting it instead of analysing.
